WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

Dear Friends, Students, Faculty Members and lovers of books,

This is Deb Stevens. I am the administrative director for the American Academy of Bookbinding based out of Telluride, Colorado. This blog was started as a way for all of us, those who have studied at AAB, friends of AAB, as well as those who want to find out more about this place, can keep in touch with each other during the year. I'll be posting all kinds of photos, news and updates as regularly as possible (or newsworthy). I hope you will also share any bookbinding thoughts, questions, revelations, etc. Send me your photos and let us all know what you're up to. Keep connected!

Day One - AAB Spring 2009

Greetings Bookbinders!

Today was the opening day for the spring session of the American Academy of Bookbinding. Brenda Parsons, our esteemed 2008 graduate, has eight students for her class "Restoration of Cloth and Leather Bindings." What a fantastic class!! Students traveled to Telluride from Oregon, Kansas, Texas, Utah and other parts of Colorado for this five-day workshop. Keep checking the BLOG for daily updates on what's happening. We'll try to send you some great pics and hot news.

In these two photos Brenda is demonstrating how to clean a spine.

  1. Brenda Parson's "Restoration of Cloth and Leather Bindings" was my first experience in the field of bookbinding. Brenda was great !! I can't believe how much we learned in just one week. The class was fast paced and soooo interesting. I would love to study more under Brenda because she has so much to offer.

I am loving the Academy of Bookbinding and plan to take many more classes in the future.
